We are pleased to announce a new edition of the SAP Design Guild Website, featuring the topic Accessibility. This ninth edition draws a picture of the current legislation, outlines the need for harmonized standards, and highlights our effort to incorporate accessibility into our products.

SAP Design Guild Newsletter No. 34 - 03/31/2005

We would like to inform you of the following new additions to the SAP Design Guild Website:

  • Our new editorial SAP at CHI 2005 in Portland, Oregon offers an invitation: The CHI 2005 conference will take place in Portland, Oregon from April 2 to 7, 2005. SAP will be a Champion Sponsor of the conference and invites conference attendees to stop by its recruiting booth.
  • The Books & People section features a new short bio of an UI professional and offers a review of the book, Technology as Experience, by John McCarthy & Peter Wright.
  • In a series of two articles on capturing and editing screenshots in our Design Tidbits section, we want to help you avoid the greatest obstacles in dealing with screenshots:
    • Part I looks at what screenshots can be used for and where you can get them from. It offers some general recommendations for capturing screens and ends with a plea against the use of the JPEG file format for screenshots, with illustrative examples.
    • Part II briefly covers simple editing tools, comments on how to patch screens together, considers what to observe when dealing with screen text, and provides hints on batch processing and Web galleries.
