On this page, we offer photos for download that you can use as desktop motives – other uses are possible as well. Here, we offer a selection of macro (or close-up) photos taken in 2009 with compact digicams. The photos have been specifically selected for the purpose of being used as desktop motives. You may find that some of the motives are better suited to this purpose than others, depending on your personal taste. Some photos look very similar but you may find that they make a big difference when used as a desktop image.

Note: Because wide screens have become popular, images are delivered in two typical wide screen widths (1920 and 1440) in JPG format. However, the images still retain the original 4:3 image format from the cameras, so that depending on your actual screen format, they may require cropping and/or resizing. You can also right-click the preview images and download larger JPG images (originals reduced to about 7 Megapixels = 3072*2304); these images may be better suited to being adapted to 16:10 or 16:9 screens.
